Abstract

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate nursing students¡¯ perceptions on child abuse.

Methods : The participants for this study were 192 nursing students at Region D. After explaining the purpose of the study,
participants who signed the consent form were asked to complete a self-descriptive questionnaire.

Results : Average score were 3.85 for perception of the act of child abuse, 3.85 for perception of the cause of child abuse, 2.37 for perception of the reporting system of child abuse, 2.96 for perception of the reporting behavior of child abuse and 4.21 for perception of ways to improve child abuse.

Conclusion : The findings from this research provide baseline information for understanding nursing students¡¯ perceptions on child abuse, and may help in the development of appropriate education programs that will enable nursing students to report child abuse.
